Barbara D. Hamrah passed away peacefully, on September 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on September 17, 1937, in Brooklyn NY, to Anthony and Josephine Tarrazi. She was a graduate of Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn and went on to work as an executive secretary at Norwegian Shipping Lines, in New York City. Barbara and her husband Karim, known as Buck to all, were destined for one another as their parents were lifelong friends. They were married on May 24, 1959 in Brooklyn. After raising their family, they enjoyed winters in Florida, summers in the
mountains and the rest of the year enjoying their grandchildren. They were blessed with 37 years together, until Buck’s passing in 1996.

Barbara was so kind and compassionate, had a great sense of humor, and had many talents. With her husband, she ran several successful businesses during their marriage. She was an excellent cook and baker in several cuisines, a gracious hostess, homemaker and most of all, a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After Buck’s passing, she spent time with her growing family, traveled, made new friends in Florida, and really lived her life to the fullest.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Buck, her mother in-law Maud, her wonderful brother Fred Tarrazi, and her beloved sister-in-law Lorraine Orfaly.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Brandon, Karey Hamrah (Michele LoPorto), Valerie Hamrah-Kappel (Jason), Hillary Brice (Steven), and Lara Hamrah-Poladian (JR), as well as 11 grandchildren: Heather Hamrah (Rogelio Rodriguez), Karey Hamrah (Stephanie) , Alana Sheldon (John), Alexa Brandon (Eric White), Madison Kappel, Steven Brice Jr., Jake Hamrah, Jude Kappel, Melody Kappel, Christopher Brice, and Saleema Diane Poladian, as well as 5 great-grandchildren: Luna, Easton, Scarlett, Lyla and Emory Diane, as well as her siblings, Celeste, George, Kathy, and Greg Tarrazi, Brenda and Mike Lucente, many cousins, nieces, nephews, wonderful friends, and her lifelong and dearest friends, Joyce and Jack Bertodatto.

Calling hours are at Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, 7742 Main St., Hunter, NY, on Wednesday, September 7, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at The Immaculate Conception Church, North Lake Road, Haines Falls, NY, on Thursday, September 8, at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Tannersville Rescue Squad, Tannersville, NY.
