Lois Higgins, 84, of Lanesville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018. Born Sept. 28, 1933 in Queens, N.Y. The daughter of the late Ernest and Louise Rehbehn. During her free time Lois enjoyed many activities including gardening, knitting, crocheting, and was also an avid reader. She also enjoyed playing cards. She was active in her role as Secretary for the Shandaken Senior Center. She was a member of the Hunter Democratic Club and actively participated in local elections.
Lois was a long-standing member of the Lanesville Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband Allen Higgins. Loving mother of Martha, Russell and his wife Chryse, Neal and his wife Teresa. Proud grandmother of Matt, Miranda, and Mikey. Further survived by sister-in-law Virginia Rehbehn, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lois will also be remembered by her dear friend Rose. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, 7742 Main St., Hunter.

I KNEW LOIS VERY WELL, ACTUALY THE WHOLE HIGGINS FAMILY. WAS GOOD FRIENDS WITH HERSON NEAL, WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER. SPENT THE ENTIRE SUUMMER OF 1979 UPSTATE IN LANESVILLE. FISHEED EVERY DAY THERE, HUNTED FALL & WINTER. WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED TO HEAR SHEPASSED, NO IDEA HOW, DID NOT KNOWSHEWAS ILL. I KNOW FOR A FACT SHE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY, SHE WAS A GREAT LAY, VERYDOWN TO EARTH,COULD TALK TO HER ABOUT ANYTHING. FEEL SO BAD FOR THE FAMILY. JEFF COSIGAN.
