Philip Martin Warshaw, age 78, amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed peacefully at home on October 23rd surrounded by his loving family in West Palm Beach, FL.

Philip was born in Elmira NY on January 22, 1943 the only child of his parents, Herman and Fanny (Snowiss) Warshaw. He met the love of his life, Barbara (Obedin) and her two daughters Lisa and Jamie Zarowitz (Tracy Tidgwell), and later became a grandfather to his beloved grandson Evan Zarowitz. Together they created a beautiful and devoted family in Woodstock, NY.

Philip was a proud Orangeman. He played varsity basketball and was a brother of Sigma Alpha Mu at Syracuse University. After college he spent several years in New York City and later moved upstate to his long-time home in Woodstock. He and Barbara spent later years in West Palm Beach with Sweetness, the sweetest dog.

He had a successful career as a salesman and sales manager for Chemung Supply Corporation, a family-owned business, distributing highway infrastructure across New York State. He infamously sold the fencing to the 1969 Woodstock Festival (and you know how that went!).

Philip was a generous and extraordinary man with a heart of gold. The goodness in him brought out the goodness in everyone around him. He touched the lives of every person he met and made the world a better place. He is cherished and will be dearly missed. His beautiful spirit and magnetic light shines on forever.

A graveside funeral service officiated by Rabbi Jonathan Kligler will be held on Wednesday October 27 at 1PM at Maplewood Cemetery/Kol Ansche Israel Cemetery, 23A Main St, South Jewett, NY. The family will be sitting Shiva on Thursday, October 28 from 3pm-6pm at Last Chance Tavern, 6009 Main St, Tannersville, NY. We kindly request that attendees are fully vaccinated. Please expect to wear a mask except while eating and drinking. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a future date.
